Noise inside dwellings is very common, but depending on the materials used and the insulation performed, it can be more or less intense. The most demanded solutions for acoustic insulation of floors
A very common solution to acoustically isolate a home is to place a raised floor over the original one, and between both, to install an insulation material that reduces noise. These types of performances are very effective since they manage to attenuate up to 90% of the noise.
Fiberglass, rock wool, expanded polystyrene, cellular glass, polyurethane foam or phenolic foams are some of the most used materials to acoustically isolate a home.
There are also other solutions that combine two materials by increasing the isolation of sound waves transmitted solidly to the outside, and acting as a barrier against noise towards the interior. We can include in this group the PKB2, the agglomerates or the texfon.
Properties of polyurethane as an acoustic insulation
Polyurethane systems are a good solution to acoustically isolate floors as they meet the levels required in the Basic Noise Protection Document, where the allowed decibels are greatly restricted.
If we speak concretely of its use in houses, their characteristics, such as their high sealing capacity, allow them to be used in all elements of any home: walls, sanitation and windows.
Thanks to their high sealing capacity, the application of polyurethane systems (either in plating, injected or projected) is very effective in absorbing noise and soundproofing the house. In addition, it provides very good results in isolation from airborne noise, so it is used not only in homes, but also in places with higher levels of decibels such as discos, cafes or factories.
